Sunday Catch-Up... eehhh maybe
Sunday night, we all know this feeling. Tomorrow I have to get up early and not lounge around in my pajamas with the cat until I feel like greeting the world. I take these last few hours on a Sunday night to catch up with the craziness which was the end of last week, but frankly I don’t feel like writing… I think it’s mainly because the computer I’m trying to download my...
And the Beat Goes On: Friday Night Receptions
In the minutes leading up to when I got in my car to start my evening, I was a little apprehensive. No matter what my love is the art community here, I can’t help but fall victim to daylight savings time and need a little extra motivation to leave the comfort of my couch and brave colder temperatures and night driving . Again, my article from GoLocalProv pushed me out the door to leave...
In a Sea of RISD at Vicinity, Keeseh Studios
It is hard to argue the presence that RISD has here in Providence. It is one of the reasons why I moved here in the first place. I often feel like a girl standing behind a velvet rope at a club that is at capacity and everyone inside is undoubtedly the coolest and I just can’t seem to make the cut. No one really understood that neither of these men are the type that would do a sit down with me. Don’t believe me? Trust me. And while I do write about art, I’m not trying to be Diane Sawyer. So if you all want an expose,...
Last of the Year, RK Projects presents X.V. / Ʌ:...
Saturday night I went to the Granoff Center at Brown to see the R.K.’s final 2011 project. Sometimes I think that the people who attend the openings often reflect the artist as much as the work does. This was certainly an interesting group of people.
The exhibit was installed in the Cohen Gallery, which can be viewed from the outside thanks to the number of windows in the building....
The Last of Its Kind?... Dead Cat
Friday I made plans to go to a show a Machines with Magnets with a new friend, but not until later in the evening. Laying around the apartment with Sonya waiting to get ready and catching up on television trying to kill time, I got a notice on Facebook that Tom West had invited me to an opening at a gallery I hadn’t heard of yet. I started to re-plan my evening to make sure I made it to...
